# Account Types Finluency Supports for Cash Flow Tracking

> Finluency supports checking, savings, credit cards, and lines of credit. Learn how each account type contributes to your forward balance projection.

In Finluency, an account is any financial account you connect — personal or business — that holds cash or credit you want to include in your forward balance picture. Accounts are the foundation of everything Finluency does: every transaction state, every forward balance projection, and every cash flow timeline is anchored to one or more accounts. The more completely you connect your financial world, the more accurate and useful your projections become.

## Account Types Finluency Supports

Finluency is designed for solopreneurs and small business owners who typically operate across a mix of personal and business accounts. The following account types are supported:

    Your primary day-to-day personal spending account. Finluency tracks inflows (deposits, transfers in) and outflows (bills, purchases, transfers out) to project your personal cash position forward.

  <Card title="Personal Savings" icon="piggy-bank" href="/concepts/accounts#personal-savings">

  <Card title="Business Checking" icon="briefcase" href="/concepts/accounts#business-checking">
    The operating account for your business. This is typically where revenue lands and where operating expenses, payroll, and vendor payments originate. Business checking is often the most critical account for forward balance modeling.

  <Card title="Business Savings" icon="chart-line" href="/concepts/accounts#business-savings">
    A business reserve or tax savings account. Connecting your business savings gives Finluency a complete view of your business liquidity, including funds you are setting aside for tax obligations or reinvestment.

## Personal vs. Business Accounts: A Unified View

Many solopreneurs and small business owners move money between personal and business accounts regularly — covering a business expense from personal funds, transferring revenue to personal checking, or drawing on a personal line of credit for the business. Managing these flows across separate apps creates blind spots.

Finluency supports both personal and business accounts in a single, consolidated dashboard. You can see your complete financial picture — every account, every balance, every upcoming obligation — in one place, without switching between tools or manually reconciling across systems.

<Tip>
  Add both your personal **and** business accounts when you set up Finluency. Solopreneurs in particular often have cash tied up across checking, savings, and credit accounts on both sides. Connecting everything ensures your forward balance reflects your true available cash and credit — not just a slice of it.
</Tip>

## How Accounts Contribute to Your Consolidated Balance

Each account you connect contributes its balance and transaction history to Finluency's forward model. You can view accounts individually to drill into a specific account's cash flow, or you can view a consolidated balance that aggregates across all connected accounts.

The consolidated view is especially powerful for answering the question: **"Across everything I have, am I okay?"** It surfaces situations where strong balances in one account might be masking a tightening position in another — for example, a healthy personal savings balance alongside a business checking account about to hit zero.

## Credit Accounts: Available Credit, Not Just What You Owe

For credit cards and lines of credit, Finluency focuses on your **available credit** — the amount you can still draw on — rather than just your outstanding balance or minimum payment. This matters because available credit is part of your real liquidity as a business owner. If your checking account runs low and you have \$8,000 available on a business credit card, that is a resource you can plan around.

Finluency incorporates credit availability into your forward balance so you have a complete picture of your financial cushion — cash plus accessible credit — not just the cash in your deposit accounts.

<Note>
  Account connectivity features depend on your current access tier. During early access, the specific institutions and connection methods available may vary. Check the [connecting accounts guide](/guides/connecting-accounts) for the most up-to-date information on what is supported.
